Walsh Construction completes final phase of Oak Trace Senior Living Community expansion
Downers Grove, Illinois – Residents are moving into the newly expanded Oak Trace Senior Living Community as Walsh Construction has completed the final phase of expansion in Downers Grove.
Built by Walsh Construction and designed by SAS Architects & Planners, and under the direction of Greenbrier Development and Lifespace Communities, the completed project delivers a nearly 350,000-square-foot five-story independent living expansion with two new five-story residential wings. The expanded community is the cumulation of a model-based multiphase masterplan that started in 2019. The third and final phase of construction, which broke ground in June 2022, unveils 140 units of luxury independent living with a complete renovation of the existing amenity space.
The $88 million expansion features enhanced shared living spaces within the independent living building, including a performing art center, a state-of-the-art fitness and aquatic center, spa and multiple community spaces.

In August 2023, Walsh Construction completed interior renovations to numerous shared spaces – a formal restaurant-style dining room, multi-purpose room, newly furnished library, art studio and a new bright and welcoming bar lounge.
This project adds to Walsh Construction’s senior living experience, from renovations to new construction across a variety of independent living, assisted living and skilled care facilities. Walsh Construction, a part of The ¶¶Òõ¶ÌÊÓƵ, has completed one-billion dollars in senior housing contracts for public and private clients.
